Cutscene vs Loom.

Loom records you. Cutscene records the demo for you: it writes the script, clicks through your app in the browser and narrates it. Skip the rehearsal; no re-recording your voice.

A Chrome extension. Free for 10 minutes of AI demos a month, and recording yourself uses no minutes.

What Cutscene does that Loom doesn't.

As of October 2026, from Loom's own pages (sources below) and Cutscene today. Cutscene is in beta.

The script Writes it from what you built, or from Claude Code: a greeting by name, each step, a next step. You approve every line. You plan it and say it yourself, with speaker notes on screen.
The recording Clicks, types and points by itself, across tabs, and waits for a webhook or email to land. You do only the steps a person must. You do every click while you talk.
The voice 8 natural voices (American, British, Australian); your own voice on your turns. You narrate it. AI voices are listed as coming soon.
Changes Edit a line and record again. The voice reads the new line; no re-recording your voice. Record the part again and stitch it in, or cut words from the transcript on Business + AI.
Zoom Zooms in on what the voice is talking about, on its own (plays in Chrome and Edge, and in the MP4 of videos up to 20 minutes). Auto-zoom is listed as coming soon.
Length and number of videos Free: record yourself for up to 2 hours at a time. Keep up to 100 videos of any kind; recordings up to 10 minutes stay until you delete them, longer ones 7 days. Pro keeps any number, each up to 2 hours long. Starter: 5 minutes per screen recording, 25 videos per person.
Passwords An optional password on every plan, Free included. Password-protected videos on Business and up.
Coding agents A Claude Code plugin turns what your agent just built into a demo. Record for agents (open beta) goes the other way: your walkthrough becomes a prompt for an agent.

Automate your demos.

  • Stop recording demos by hand. Describe what you built; Cutscene writes and records the demo.
  • No re-recording your voice. Change a line and record again.
  • Built for coding agents. Ask Claude Code for a demo of what it just built.

Record yourself too.

When you'd rather talk it through, Cutscene can also record you: this tab, a window or your screen, with your microphone and captions. It uses no minutes, even on Free.

Is Cutscene a Loom alternative?

Yes, if you'd rather not record demos by hand. Cutscene writes the script, clicks through your app in the browser and narrates it. It can also record you with your microphone, like Loom.

Is there a length limit on the free plan?

On Cutscene Free, a recording of yourself can run up to 2 hours and uses no minutes; AI demos get 10 minutes a month. Recordings up to 10 minutes stay until you delete them, and longer ones stay 7 days. Loom's Starter plan stops each screen recording at 5 minutes.

Can I change a demo after recording?

Edit any line of the script and record again. The voice reads the new line, so you don't re-record the narration.

More about Cutscene

Cutscene is a Chrome extension that writes a script and records a narrated, auto-zoomed demo video of the app you built, in your own signed-in browser. It is for developers who need to show what they built: freelancers and agencies showing clients their progress, and small product teams showing a release to their team or users. Free includes 10 minutes of AI demos a month, and recording yourself uses no minutes. Pro is $15 a month, or $144 a year, for 120 minutes. Extra minutes are $8 for 60. Paid plans open soon.

Your next demo, recorded for you.

Describe what you built and approve the script. Cutscene records it and hands you the link.
