Cutscene records narrated demo videos of your own web app, inside the Chrome tab you choose. This page explains what Cutscene collects, why, who processes it and how long it is kept. Cutscene is run by Farzam Azhar in Lahore, Pakistan. Questions go to hello@trycutscene.com.
What Cutscene collects
Your account
- Your email address, and your name if you add one.
- For each signed-in browser: the IP address and browser description, so you can see and end your sessions.
- Sign-in codes, which work once and expire after 10 minutes.
What you give Cutscene to make a demo
- The notes you type in the extension, or send from Claude Code. From Claude Code these are a title, a description, and the repository name, branch, commit and changed file names. Never source code.
- An outline of the page you are recording: its address and title, and the visible text and labels of its links, buttons and form fields. Values typed into password and payment fields are never read, and Cutscene never types into them.
- The script you edit: its steps and their narration.
Your recordings
- The video and sound of the one tab you record, and your microphone if you turn it on.
- What is made from it: the narration voice, captions, a transcript and thumbnails.
Usage
- Minutes recorded each month and narration characters each day, to apply plan limits.
- When each connected app (the extension, Claude Code) was last used.
What Cutscene does not do
- No ads, no selling or renting of your data, and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- The extension acts only in the tab where you start Cutscene, on sites you allow. It does not read your other tabs or your browsing history.
- Your recordings and notes are not used to train AI models, by Cutscene or by its providers (see below).
The Chrome extension
The extension keeps its sign-in token and your settings in Chrome's extension storage. While you record, the video is also kept in your browser's storage so nothing is lost if the connection drops; it is removed once the upload finishes, or when you discard it. Cutscene's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who processes your data
Cutscene uses these providers to run the service. Each receives only what its job needs.
- Anthropic (Claude): your notes, the page outline and the script, to write the script and to find elements on the page while recording. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API data is not used to train their models.
- Deepgram: narration text, to make the voice, and the sound of recordings you make yourself, to make captions. Every request opts out of Deepgram's model improvement program, so this data is kept only while it is processed.
- Cloudflare: stores videos, narration and thumbnails (R2) and runs the domain's DNS.
- DigitalOcean: hosts the servers and the database.
- Resend: sends sign-in emails.
These providers may process data in the United States, the European Union and other countries where they operate.
Sharing
A video's share link plays for anyone who has it, unless you add a password. Deleting a video stops its link at once. Adding or changing a password also stops older links.
How long data is kept
- Videos and scripts: until you delete them. A deleted video's files are removed from storage within 24 hours (it can be restored until then).
- Sign-in sessions: removed after 90 days without use.
- Connected apps: disconnected after 90 days without use, or when you disconnect them in Settings.
- Server logs: kept briefly for security and debugging. They do not contain your notes, scripts, page text or search terms.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS. Videos sit in private storage and are reached only through links that expire. Access tokens are stored as one-way hashes, and sign-in is by one-time email codes, so there is no password to steal.
Your choices and rights
You can delete any video at any time, disconnect the extension or Claude Code in Settings, and sign out of every browser at once. To get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and everything in it, email hello@trycutscene.com. An account deletion request is completed within 7 days.
Children
Cutscene is not meant for anyone under 16 and does not knowingly collect their data.
